Scottsdale Fashion Square, the Southwest’s largest shopping destination, spans nearly two million square feet with over 225 luxury retailers. In partnership with KONE Inc., Eklund’s installed a striking three-story glass observation elevator in Palm Court, featuring low-iron glass walls and stainless steel finishes—offering seamless views of iconic brands while elevating the mall experience.
With approximately two million square feet of retail space, Scottsdale Fashion Square is the largest shopping destination in the Southwest and is among the top 30 largest malls in the country. The center is home to more than 225 retailers including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy’s, and the largest Dillard’s in the country. Originally built as a 3-story open-air structure in 1961, Scottsdale Fashion Square has been through many expansions and modernizations throughout its lifetime. This past year, the mega-center opted to add a brand new glass elevator and hoistway at the mall’s epicenter in Palm Court to better accommodate mall patrons.
Extending along the bottom of the cab, the base is also stainless steel and extends six inches high to accommodate vent slots. An impressive three-story, all-glass shaft houses the custom cab and all of the elevator’s operational mechanisms.
Working with KONE Inc., Eklund’s completed a custom glass observation elevator for Scottsdale Fashion Square. At the top, a six-panel ceiling is constructed of stainless steel #4 and contains six energy efficient LED downlights. The cab’s transparent side and rear walls are full length 9/16” thick, clear, low-iron laminated glass held in place at the top, bottom, and corners of the cab’s frame by extruded aluminum channels. Mounted through the glass walls, a sleek stainless steel handrail runs continuously along the rear and side walls of the cab, bending smoothly at the corner intersections.
While being wisped from level-to-level of this shopping mecca, Scottsdale Fashion Square Patron’s favorite stores like Louis Vuitton, Armani Exchange, and Prada, among others, are never out of sight!
